The group commended the INEC for doing a good job in Anambra, while also commending security agencies for a job well done. The group called on INEC to quickly conclude the election so as not to prolong the period within which the winner would be declared.
“We are not unmindful of the attempt by some group of people to declare the whole process as generally flawed and uncredible, but on our part, we sincerely believe that the minor hitches are not enough to undermine the collective free will of expression of the Anambrarians at the polls”, the stated.
The group led by Dr. Peter Mozie as Global chairman and Dr. Justina Ozioma Obi as Global Woman leader in a press briefing in Awka said they applaud the “orderly conduct of the people of Anambra State and the peace that pervaded the land before, during and after the election”.
The group acknowledged minor hitches that were noticed at some of the perceived ‘hot beds’ within the state but noted that “universally, there were no elections that had ever been adjudged as absolutely free and fair, even in the United States of America and other developed and advanced democracies”.
The group implored all aggrieved political parties, stakeholders and candidates to be mindful of their utterances, seek redress if any by engaging the legal framework as provided for in the constitution in pursuance of their grievances without heating up the polity, which it noted may result into endangering the lives of innocent citizens and bring into disrepute the nation’s democracy.
